Brokenwood exhibits at Hong Kong International Wine Fair 2010

Today at the China region’s largest fine wine trade fair, the Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair, Australian market-leading winery Brokenwood showed its latest peer-awarded premium wines to the trade.

中国地区最大的葡萄酒贸易展会香港国际美酒展于今日举行,澳大利亚著名的Brokenwood酒业展示了其精品葡萄酒系列。

Amongst the full range of Brokenwood wines on display, the standouts attracting the highest attention include the 2007 Graveyard Vineyard Shiraz, which was recently awarded the highest level of “Exceptional” by the international collectors wine auction house Langtons.  This rare designation by one of the world’s most respected advisors to wine collectors is shared by such iconic Australian wines as Grange Hermitage and Hill of Grace.

Also attracting intense interest is the winery’s 2009 Forest Edge Vineyard Chardonnay, the follow-up vintage to the 2008, which was recently  honoured as the 2010 NSW Wine of the Year by the New South Wales Wine Industry Association’s experts panel.

另外一个吸引眼球的葡萄酒品种是2009年份 Forest Edge 葡萄园霞多丽,最近刚刚被新南威尔士葡萄酒业协会专家组授予2010新南威尔士年度葡萄酒称号。

Of special note in 2010 was Brokenwood’s 40th anniversary, celebrated on October 2nd, 3rd and 4th.  Commemorating the exceptional growth of the “industry champion” winery, Brokenwood was founded by the “dream team” of James Halliday, Tony Albert, and John Beeston who paid a then-record price of A$970 per acre for a 10-acre block in the foothills of the Hunter Valley’s Brokenback Ranges. This year, on the highly reputable Australian winery’s 40th birthday, the company proudly produced 125,000 cases (dozens) of its 26 different fine Australian wines.  Brokenwood winemaker Ian Riggs said, “While the size of the company has grown, the operation remains deliberately labour intensive, being the only way of assuring the individuality and premium quality of our wines.”

还要特别提到的是,2010年是Brokenwood酒业的40周年庆,10月2日、3日、4日为欢庆日。为Brokenwood酒业这一葡萄酒行业精英企业发展飞速,最早由“梦之队” James Halliday、Tony Albert和John Beeston建立,他们在当时以每英亩970澳元的价格买下了猎人谷断背山脉脚下一处10英亩的土地。如今,这家拥有40周年历史的公司已经成长为可生产

According to Mr. Geoff Krieger, Brokenwood’s General Manager, “The 2011 growing season is looking like it will be our first ‘normal vintage’ in a long time. We’ve had great winter rainfall and we’re anticipating an exceptional vintage, and particularly excellent Brokenwood wines in 2011 and beyond.”
